Hello! My name is Marsi Richardson and I am passionate about learning, reading, writing, and creating opportunities for everything and anything literacy-related for my students. On one end of the spectrum, I will teach a struggling child or adult with dyslexia or another language-based learning disability to crack the code for reading, writing, and spelling through a structured literacy, systematic, explicit, evidence-based intervention approach. Further down the educational road, I will walk high school juniors and seniors confidently through the college application process with compassionate guidance, organizational prowess, and attentive editing skills. My services are characterized by warm, personalized attention, intuitive flexibility, and careful, deep, knowledgeable practice. My education includes degrees from the University of California, Santa Barbara in Communication (B.A.) and Teaching and Learning (M.Ed), and an Education Specialist (Ed.S) degree in Reading from Gordon College in Massachusetts. I am a California multiple-subject credentialed teacher with a Crosscultural, Language & Academic Development certificate. I am a licensed Reading Specialist through the state of Massachusetts, ranked #1 in the U.S. for preK-12 reading education. I have earned certifications as a Barton Reading and Spelling Tutor, a Dyslexia Interventionist through the Center for Effective Reading Instruction (CERI), and as an Orton-Gillingham Tutor through Gordon's Herschend School of Education. I homeschooled my own three children for over a decade, and subsequently partnered in their education at a variety of local private and public schools. I believe in life-long learning and will help your student cross whatever literacy bridge will bring them to flourish as they pursue their goals and LEVEL-UP!
